About us
The Shadery is building the first modular motorized Roman shade system. Patent-protected hardware with swappable fabric panels lets people change their window treatments the way they change a duvet cover. We're pre-launch, backed by Lerer Hippeau, and closing a seed round with strong VC traction.
We're a small, senior team: CEO, CMO, Fabric Operations Lead, and partners across hardware manufacturing and product development. We're now hiring our first Chief of Staff.
The role
This is a generalist role primarily focused on project management and execution. The person who takes things that have been started and drives them across the finish line.
You will be the operating system that brings the strategy to life: turning frameworks into project plans, holding cross-functional workstreams accountable, and closing the loops to keep everything running smoothly and on track.
You are AI forward to the point where it shows up in everything you do. You should already be using Claude (and friends) to do the work of two or three people, and you should be excited to help build the operating cadence of an AI-native startup from day one.
What you'll do
Project management
Operations milestones with our hardware partners, fabric production timelines with our print and fabrication partners, GTM launch workstreams, and more. You'll own the master tracker and make sure things are delivered on time.
GTM execution
Working closely with our CMO to ship launch assets, coordinate creative partners, manage briefs, and run the operational backbone of our marketing activations.
Internal systems and tooling
Notion, Todoist, our internal hub, our agent stack. You'll keep the company's second brain organized and build the lightweight processes a small team needs to scale.
Communications
Drafting external updates, partner emails, investor materials, internal docs. You're a strong writer who can own communications across various work streams and audiences.
Whatever else needs doing
This is an early-stage role and will evolve quickly with expanded scope and responsibilities.
You probably have
- 4–8 years of operating experience, with at least some at a Seed-to-Series-B startup
- A track record of executing across functions, ideally at a consumer brand, hardware company, or both
- Deep AI fluency: you build prompts, workflows, and agents; you've replaced manual processes with AI-driven ones; you have opinions about which model to use for what
- Project management instincts that border on compulsive; nothing falls through the cracks
- Strong writing and aesthetic sense; you can tell good work from mediocre work, and you produce the former
- Comfort with ambiguity and direct feedback. We push back on each other here.
Bonus points
- D2C consumer brand operating experience
- Familiarity with hardware development cycles (EVT/DVT/PVT)
- Background in finance, ops, or consulting
- You've shipped your own side projects, agents, or internal tools
Logistics
- Based in the NYC area, hybrid with regular in-person time in Westchester
- Competitive salary
- Start date: as soon as we find the right person
