About us

The Shadery makes motorized Roman shades with premium, swappable fabrics that designers and their clients can live with for years: fabrics that let a room evolve without replacing the shade, motors that simplify light across a whole home, and native smart-home integration. We're launching our Trade Program for interior designers, and we're looking for the person to build it.

The role

This is a commercial role and the first dedicated trade hire at The Shadery. You will own the Trade Program end to end, from how designers first discover us through to a finished install, building the relationships, the process, and the pipeline that turn a new channel into a dependable book of business.

Almost every trade role in our industry hands you a program someone else built. This one doesn't. You will design the program itself, recruit its founding designers, and close its first projects. And the role is built to grow: as the trade channel becomes a larger part of the business, the person who built it from day one is positioned to lead it at a genuinely senior level. You will report to the Chief Marketing Officer and work closely with the Founder and CEO, carrying what you learn in the market back into the product, the sampling program, and the way we sell.

What you'll own

Design the Trade Program itself

Define the pricing and discount structure, the sampling and COM policies, the application and onboarding flow, and the service standards that designers judge every trade program by. You'll draw on what the best programs in the industry do well and decide where ours should go further.

Build the founding designer cohort

Recruit and develop the first group of trade designers who fit The Shadery, and turn those relationships into a lasting base of repeat partners.

Establish The Shadery in the market

Lead the brand's introduction to the interior design trade at launch, and give designers value propositions they understand, believe, and repeat to their clients.

Own the sales motion from first contact to finished install

Lead both inbound and outbound, and manage every project through lead, sampling, quote, order, and install, coordinating with factories and production teams to keep timelines on target and the forecast accurate.

Manage the sampling economics

Run the sample kit program so that kits reach the right designers and convert efficiently into qualified leads and, in turn, closed deals.

Feed market intelligence to leadership

Track why deals are won and lost, and bring those patterns back to leadership so they can inform product, pricing, and positioning.

Own our in-market presence

Represent The Shadery in person at design weeks, show houses, and showroom events across the markets where our designers work.

Drive loyalty and referrals

Turn satisfied designers into repeat projects, peer referrals, and the project imagery that fuels the company's marketing.

Who you are

  • You have seven or more years of sales success within the design trade, in furniture, textiles, window treatments, or an adjacent luxury category, with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding targets
  • You bring an active book of business and warm relationships with top-tier designers, including AD100-level studios, and you can put those relationships to work in your first ninety days
  • You understand how designers actually buy: how sampling leads to specification, how procurement and install timelines shape a project, and what makes a trade partner worth coming back to
  • You have exceptional sales and negotiation skills, and you close
  • You run a disciplined pipeline, with the CRM habits to keep a forecast accurate and a sales process consistent as the channel grows
  • You listen for what a client actually needs and respond with creative, tailored solutions rather than a standard pitch
  • You want to build. You're energized rather than daunted by a channel that doesn't exist yet, and you want your relationships and judgment reflected directly in revenue
  • Contract sales experience is a bonus, and familiarity with hospitality, commercial, or specification-driven sales processes is a strong advantage

What success looks like

First 90 days

A founding cohort of designers engaged and sampled, the first projects being spec'd, and a pipeline you can forecast.

First year

A repeatable trade motion, a healthy book of active designers, and, best of all, designers coming back for their second and third projects.

Details

  • Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer, working closely with the Founder and CEO
  • New York preferred, with regular travel to priority markets and design events. We're open to remote for an exceptional candidate whose relationships anchor elsewhere
  • $100,000 to $130,000 base depending on experience, plus uncapped commission on trade revenue. The commission is uncapped by design: as the trade channel grows, this role's earnings grow with it

Drop your resume.

We'll read it. And tell us about a designer relationship you've built that lasted across multiple projects. We'd love to hear that story.

Optional. A story, a project link, a question. Anything that wouldn't be in your resume.

By submitting, you agree to be contacted about this role.
